Reviews:
- Wine Advocate: The most structured and muscular of Domaine de l’Arlot’s premiers crus, the 2019 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos des Forêts St Georges wafts from the glass with aromas of cassis, plums, dark berries, raw cocoa and sweet soil tones. Medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with lively acids, powdery tannins and a youthfully chalky finish, this is an elegantly muscular wine built to age.
- Vinous: It has the best bouquet from the domaine this year, delivering gorgeous red fruits laced with violet that burst from the glass, quite Vosne-like in style. The palate is succulent but structured on the entry, presenting a perfect line of acidity, while beautifully integrated oak lends a seamless texture. Very persistent and satiny on the finish. An outstanding wine for the vintage.
Producer Information
Domaine de l’Arlot is a Burgundy producer in the Côte de Nuits known for its Pinot Noir from select vineyard sites. It is based just south of the township of Nuits Saint-Georges and has vines in several prestigious vineyards including in two premier cru monopole vineyards – Clos de Forets Saint-Georges and Clos de l’Arlot. The l’Arlot vineyard was established in the 18th Century when the owner of the property built the encircling wall. Domaine de l’Arlot was expanded by the négociant Jules Belin after he bought it in 1891.The modern incarnation stems from the sale of the property by Belin’s heirs to French investment firm AXA Millésimes, which also owns several other wine estates including Château Pichon-Longueville Baron in Bordeaux. AXA further expanded Domaine de l’Arlot’s holdings with plots in the premier cru Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots vineyard and the grand cru Romanée Saint-Vivant.
