- Allen Meadows: A notably more complex nose offers up high-toned red cherry, pomegranate and lavender scents. The sleek, refined and seductively textured middle weight flavors possess a lovely sense of underlying tension while exhibiting fine persistence on the youthfully austere finale. This too is a lovely Chambolle villages.
Producer Information
Jean-Luc & Eric Burguet is a wine producer in based in Gevrey-Chambertin, in the Côte de Nuits subregion of Burgundy’s Côte d’Or. Jean-Luc and Eric Burguet inherited the 10-hectare (25-acre) domaine from their father and released their first vintage in 2011. The most well-known of their Gevrey-Chambertin wines is the Mes Favorites, a village-level blend of Pinot Noir grapes sourced from old vines averaging more than 60 years old. The domaine was founded in 1974 by Alain Burguet with a two-hectare (five-acre) plot in Gevrey-Chambertin. Burguet purchased a small Champeaux Premier Cru plot in 1985, and in 1991 acquired a four-hectare (10-acre) parcel of vines from his father. His son Eric officially joined the family business in 2003, and was shortly followed by his brother, Jean-Luc, in 2005. The majority of the domaine’s parcels are classified at the village level. The Pinot Noir vines that dominate these vineyards are picked by hand and the grapes are destemmed prior to fermentation. After a 15-20 day fermentation with natural yeasts, the wines are pressed and aged in French oak barrels. In general, minimal new oak is used across the red wine portfolio and the wines are bottled without fining or filtration. The brothers also make a single white wine made from Chardonnay, a Meursault village wine called Sous La Velle.
