Benchmark is a brandname from the infamous Buffalo Distillery, nowadays named after the McAfee brothers who lived in Frankfort in the 1700’s. McAfee’s Benchmark was created by Seagram’s in the 1960’s as a premium Bourbon. In those days it was known as Benchmark; only much later it was given it’s current name McAfee’s Benchmark. In 1989 the Sazerac Company acquired Benchmark.

Buffalo Trace Distillery is a distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, that is owned by the Sazerac Company. It has historically been known by several names, including the George T. Stagg Distillery and the Old Fire Copper Distillery.
