Description
Fresh strawberries are not a flavor you’d expect in a peaty Islay Whisky, but it’s just one of many surprises this rare bottle of Bunnahabhain has to offer. Distilled in 2004, it spent 10 in ex-Bourbon casks and an additional 3 years in former Marsala Wine casks, where it developed its unique fruity characteristics. The “wet” set of casks also infused it with a sweetness that, combined with the fruitiness, presents a serious counterbalance to the expected Islay peat character.
The result is a dessert Whisky reminiscent of berries and cream with a satisfying touch of smoke to finish any proper evening meal. This was an exclusive bottling only gifted to volunteers at the Fèis Ìle 2017, only 100 bottles were released.
