Description
Barton & Guestier Château Magnol is a classic Bordeaux blend showcasing the elegance and balance of the Haut-Médoc region. Composed of 50% Merlot, 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 3% Petit Verdot, this wine reflects the estate’s rich heritage and meticulous craftsmanship. Harmonious and full-bodied, it reveals ripe tannins and a refined structure, with an aromatic finish of fruit, spice, vanilla, and liquorice.
Meet the producer
The legacy of Barton & Guestier began in the early 18th century when Irish-born Thomas Barton settled in Bordeaux and founded his wine-shipping company in 1725. His success made him one of Bordeaux’s most prominent merchants, earning the nickname “French Tom.” In 1802, his grandson Hugh Barton partnered with French trader Daniel Guestier to establish Barton & Guestier — now recognised as the oldest wine merchant house in Bordeaux, celebrated for its blend of tradition, quality, and innovation.
Production
Grapes are carefully selected from the Château Magnol estate in the Haut-Médoc. The wine is vinified with precision to highlight the character of each grape variety. A traditional fermentation process is followed by maturation that enhances texture and aromatic complexity. The result is a balanced, elegant Bordeaux with depth and length.
Tasting notes
Rich ruby in colour, the wine is harmonious and well balanced, with fine, ripe tannins. The palate shows layers of dark fruit and subtle spice, complemented by vanilla and liquorice notes. The finish is full, elegant, and persistent.
