Origins & Craftsmanship
Warlander is a special limited edition from the Altamar Brands portfolio, created in collaboration with artist and pro-skier Chris Benchetler (“Benchetler No. 3”). The blend combines three- and four-year-old Kentucky straight rye and bourbon whiskeys: the vibrant rye contributes fruit-forward and baking-spice notes, while the high-rye bourbon adds depth and complexity. After blending, the whiskey was re-barreled in a combination of its own ex-bourbon and ex-rye casks for just over two months to encourage flavour integration before bottling at 99 proof.
Tasting Profile
Nose: Bright citrus—grapefruit and lemon zest—shifts into caramelised orange, salted caramel, green apple, grilled peaches and fresh dill. A subtle black-cherry note sits in the background.
Palate: Bold and layered: rich caramel and savoury notes lead into dark chocolate, cocoa nibs, black cherry and blackberry. A peppery black-pepper and all-spice finish drives the tail.
Finish: Long, warming and textured—oak tannin lingers alongside rich fruit skins and pepper-driven spice, rewarding slow contemplation.
