Indonesia boasts a longer rum history than many realize, as it is the birthplace of the sugarcane plant. Batavian Arrack, the country’s traditional rum, is known for incorporating fermented red rice. The Naga Thailand Edition is considered one of the finest rums from the region.

Distillation Process:

• Sugarcane is cultivated and processed into molasses on the distillery’s plantations.
• Naga Thailand Edition rum undergoes five distillations in column stills.
• It is then aged at the distillery in 200-liter ex-bourbon American oak casks. The underground cellar helps maintain a consistent temperature.
• The angel’s share ranges between 7% and 9% per year.
• The barrels are racked multiple times and refilled with rum of equivalent age.

Tasting Notes:

This Naga Thailand Edition rum, with its extensive wood aging, offers a rich brown sugar aroma alongside complex spicy and woody notes. On the palate, the rum showcases a smooth, rounded texture typical of Naga rums. Spicy flavors unfold, accompanied by delicate hints of candied fruit, vanilla oak, and the soft essence of blond tobacco leaves. Made from molasses and aged in wood casks for 10 years—likely ex-Bourbon, with some possible influence of local Indonesian teak—the rum culminates in a nutty, fruity profile with notes of tobacco leaf, oak, pineapple, rich molasses, caramelized apples, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
