Description
Navajas Rioja Reserva Tinto is a beautifully crafted expression of classic Rioja, produced from estate and grower vineyards surrounding Navarrete in Rioja Alta and Rioja Oriental. The region’s mix of limestone and clay soils, combined with its temperate climate, provides ideal conditions for Tempranillo to thrive, yielding elegant, balanced wines with great depth and ageing potential.
Meet the producer
Bodegas Navajas is a family-run winery established in 1918 and now managed by the third generation. Situated in the heart of Rioja Alta, the estate is renowned for its meticulous attention to detail from vineyard to bottle, combining traditional winemaking with modern precision. The wines are matured patiently in oak and bottle to ensure harmony, complexity, and the hallmark smoothness of classic Rioja.
Production
Made predominantly from Tempranillo with small portions of Graciano and Mazuelo, the grapes are carefully selected and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks. The wine is then aged for a minimum of 24 months in American and French oak barrels before further bottle ageing to achieve perfect balance and maturity.
Tasting notes
Deep ruby red with garnet reflections, the nose offers inviting aromas of ripe red fruits, vanilla, spice, and a hint of tobacco. The palate is smooth and rounded, with layers of cherry, plum, and subtle oak complexity. Fine tannins and well-integrated acidity lead to a long, elegant finish.
