The eight selections are amplified by the signature Plantation double ageing process, beginning with a first tropical maturation in bourbon casks and ending with a second ageing of at least one year in Ferrand French oak casks in France.

Plantation Extreme No. 4 27 Year Old Guyana Rum Tasting Notes

Nose: Intense, it starts on a fruity profile, with lemon, peach, and starfruit quickly followed by linseed oil, hazelnut, nutmeg, cinnamon. It the evolves honey, red and dark berries with soft peppery notes.

Palate: Very intense and complex, it starts with pineapple, green apple, goji berry, with. Touches of smoky molasses, reminiscent of an old Islay whisky, with tons of marzipan and long pepper.

Finish: A pleasing, very long finish.

Distillery Information

Uitvlugt (pronounced “eye-flut”) is a village in Guyana, based on the west bank of the Demerara River, however the name is Dutch. Back in the 17th century most sugar cane plantations produced their own rum. The Dutch-owned Uitvlugt Distillery was established around 1750, housing double wooden pot stills which produced a heavy style rum.
