Description
Quinta do Vesúvio, one of the Douro’s most historic estates, dates back to 1827 and features north- and west-facing vineyards rising from 110 to 450 metres. The 137-hectare vineyard, on predominantly schist soils with small granite outcrops, produces some of the most balanced and elegant wines in the region. Comboio do Vesúvio, named after the estate’s historic railway station, is a fresh, unoaked red highlighting youthful fruit and vibrant aromatics.
Winemaking
Hand-picked grapes are carefully sorted, destemmed, and gravity-fed into fermentation vats. Daily monitoring of maceration and temperature ensures optimal extraction of fruit flavours and aromas. This unoaked wine is crafted to be enjoyed young while retaining subtle ageing potential.
