Rattleback Rye, as profiled in LA Weekly a few days back, is a “flash-aged” whiskey created by Théron Regnier and Wynn Sanders. The two, working with one of Lost Spirits’ “THEA One” reactors that’s housed at an Oregon distillery, have done the “research and development of their new rye.”
Rattleback Rye Whiskey Tasting Notes
Nose: A nose reminiscent of fruit cake and orange peel, it is slightly herbal with a hint of saffron.
Palate: The palate is quite viscous with an oily texture and notes of candied fruits and toasted marshmallows.
Finish: Rattleback Rye finishes with exceptionally long taste of spices, coffee, creamy toffee, and a hint of licorice.
