Description
PLEASE NOTE: We are able to offer today’s pricing due to some cosmetic issues with the bottles including bubbling of the front labels. While we guarantee the quality of the whisky itself, the bottle may have a damaged label or scuffing. All bottles are sold as is.
Sato Shiki’s 41 Year Old Japanese Single Grain Whisky is the stuff of legend, having spent more than four decades in a combination of white oak, French limousin oak, and ex-Sherry.
With its thick, heavy mouthfeel, decadent flavors of dark chocolate and sweet raisins, along with dried fruits, toffee, and toasted grains, this is the Japanese whisky experience that many of us hope for when spending a thousand bucks on a bottle.
Founded by master distiller Taichi Seki and produced at Sato Distillery in Japan, all of the grains used by the brand are sourced locally from Makino farms in Miyazaki Prefecture and, unlike Yamazaki or Nikka, the distillery uses a one-of-a-kind Sato Still, invented by master distiller Junji Mizue in 1989. The casks in which the whisky is aged are also Japanese, sourced from the Ariake Angyo Cooperage. Through careful sourcing, the brand has created whiskies that are 100% Japanese, “seed to sip.”
Unfortunately for American consumers, the price of ultra-mature Japanese whisky is so expensive today that even some of the mediocre expressions command ridiculous prices well beyond their what their quality should demand.
Here’s where things get interesting….
We were recently approached by the U.S. importer for Sato Shiki who had a dilemma: a few cases of the highly-coveted 41 year old single grain expression—normally $900 a bottle—had suffered some label damage with bubbling of the glue underneath the seal. They would no longer fetch the standard MSRP with those cosmetic issues.
*Would a $500 discount per bottle change things?*
Today only, we have very limited number of Sato Shiki 41 Year Old Japanese Single Grain Whisky bottles for just $499.99, while supplies last. These bottles have cosmetic damage, so they’re not great for gift giving, but they are just fine for drinking!
Once again, these bottles are being sold “as is” with the understanding that the $500 discount is due to those cosmetic issues.
If you’re planning to drink your Sato Shiki 41 Year Old Japanese Grain Whisky rather than gift it or auction it, then you’ve just stumbled across one of the best deals we’ve seen this year! Get your bottle now!
