Based in Lousiville, Kentucky, Michter’s is a distillery with ties to America’s first distillery. In 1753, it was a Swiss Mennonite farmer named John Shenk who founded Shenk’s distillery — which was eventually renamed into Michter’s distillery in the 20th century. Shenk Homestead bottlings honor the guy who started it all.
Released in 2019, Shenk’s Homestead Bourbon Sour Mash follows two previous, super successful editions that instantly sold out. Like its predecessors, some of the Whisky was aged in Chinquapin oak barrels. The wood is air dried naturally, seasoned for over 3 years, and charred at various levels. Nothing is left to coincidence and the result is an elegant and balanced Whisky.
